A memory

Created by Jane and Peter 3 years ago

When I was single and living away from home on occasions I would travel north to visit Mum and Fred.  Recognising that I was on my own on a Saturday night Mike would often ring and offer to take me "Clubbin'!" This would entail picking me up from Lostock hall, going with Mike to one of his gigs, me helping him with his equipment and then me sitting in a corner with a pint listening to the  "entertainment". On one occasion I was making notes ready for a big presentation that I had to do the following week whereby Mike hurried over and asked what I was doing.  After listening to my explanation he burst out laughing and said that the staff of the local council run venue suspected me of spying on them and making notes.  To diffuse the situation I obviously stopped much to the relief of all concerned. Mike was always fun to be with and both Jane and I over the years loved hearing his stories about his entertainment visits to old folks homes.

During his time as a scout master some idiots broke into the scout hut and trashed it.  They threw a commercial tin of HP sauce all over the place.  When he saw what the brown sauce had done to the concrete he never touched the stuff again for fear what it may do to your inside!
